The Daily Orange seeks alumni to join Board of Directors

There’s no better way to give back to The D.O. than by donating your time.

The Daily Orange Board of Directors is looking for motivated alumni to join the governing body of The D.O. and help shape the future of this independent, nonprofit student news organization.

The board of directors’ primary responsibility is to take actions that stabilize The D.O.’s financial future. As a board member, you would be expected to:

• Attend a monthly virtual meeting (12–1 p.m. EST on the first Saturday of the month)
• Attend an annual in-person meeting in Syracuse
• Join one of the following working committees:
  • Fundraising
  • Grants and Corporate Outreach
  • Finance
  • Diversity and Inclusion
• Make individual financial contributions OR solicit financial contributions from friends and fellow alumni
• Provide guidance and expertise to the paper’s student management team
• Contribute to the creation of The D.O.’s new strategic plan

Experience in nonprofit management, finance, fundraising or grant writing, while not a requirement, is a plus! Alumni board members can come from either the editorial or business side. We’re interested in diversity of thought and we need people who are willing to commit. Complete your application by Friday, June 18. All candidates will be considered.
